help in assuring that the water flows unimpeded. The Lake Ditch’s crew monitors the ditch daily during the irrigation season, but they are unable to monitor the entire length of the ditch daily.
call the Lake Ditch Manager, Steve Benna (775-813-0892), or the Lake Ditch Crew Chief, Kevin DePriest (775-686-8390) should you notice anything blocking the flow of the water, or any activity in the ditch, such as debris being put in the ditch, etc.
throw lawn clippings, leaves, limbs, debris, refuse or chemicals in the ditch;
remove bushes or trees from the ditch banks or easement. The roots from trees and bushes help to contain the bank and seepage. If removal is desired, please contact the Lake Ditch Manager, Steve Benna (775-813-0892) prior to any work being done. A written approval from the Lake Ditch Company and a hold harmless agreement are required before any work is performed.
do any digging in the ditch, or changing of the ditch in any way. NRS 536.120
build any structures adjacent to the ditch without FIRST contacting the Lake Ditch Company and obtaining written approval and providing the Lake Ditch Company with a hold harmless agreement (see Documents). No structures can be allowed within the operating easement.
construct anything over the ditch, such as a bridge without FIRST contacting the Lake Ditch Company and obtaining written approval from the Lake Ditch Company, providing the Lake Ditch Company with a hold harmless agreement (see Documents). Permission or approval may also be required by the City of Reno or Washoe County.
put any pumps or siphons in the ditch unless you have recieved express permission by the Lake Ditch Company.
• Please note: the water in the Lake Ditch during the irrigation season is owned by the shareholders of the company.
